In addition to the opportunities for coordination, we witnessed a concerning trend: segmentation. Specialization led to fragmentation, leaving pets and pet owners with disjointed care experiences. Not only are pet owners driving all over town (or state) to get the care their pets need, but these fragmented clinics often don’t communicate efficiently, leaving the pet owner and pet with suboptimal and incomplete treatment.
Papaya’s Operating Structure
In response, we implemented an integrated operating structure at Papaya Veterinary Care that would bridge the gaps in pet care and offer a seamless experience. This was a departure from the norm, a paradigm shift aimed at treating pets as whole beings, not just a set of symptoms.
Efficiency & Capacity
The benefits of unified care go beyond better pet health, providing improved convenience to pet owners. By streamlining processes and utilizing resources effectively, Papaya ensures pet owners can access care when needed. We built a continuity of care model by joining General Practice and Urgent Care under the same roof and locating Emergency Hospitals nearby, ensuring capacity for addressing any gaps in patient care.
